The short version. Manhwa Translation translates comics on your iPhone. The pages you read and the translations of them never leave your device — Apple's on-device translation and text recognition do that work locally. We only send data to a server when you choose to sign in, and then only what is needed to keep your token balance attached to your account.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy explains how the Manhwa Translation iOS app handles your information. It applies to the app only. It does not cover third-party websites you visit through the app's built-in browser — those sites have their own policies.
2. What stays on your device
The following never leaves your iPhone and is never sent to us or to anyone else:
- Page images and recognised text. Text recognition runs locally using Apple's Vision framework.
- Translations. Produced locally by Apple's Translation framework. Comic text is not uploaded for translation.
- Browsing history from the in-app browser, and the list of pages you have recently read.
- Translation cache and story memory — the terminology and the dialogue corrections you save for a story.
- App settings such as language, appearance, and translation quality.
All of this is deleted when you delete the app from your device.
3. What we collect
Signing in is optional. If you never sign in, we do not collect or store any personal data about you on our servers.
If you sign in with Apple
We use Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, both operated by Google, to create an account and hold your token balance. We store:

We do not use analytics or crash-reporting services, and we do not collect your location, contacts, or photo library.
4. Advertising
Readers on the free tier are shown ads supplied by Google AdMob. AdMob may process device identifiers and information about how you interact with an ad in order to serve and measure it. The app does not ask for permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites, so these ads are non-personalised.
Google's handling of this data is described in the Google privacy & terms. Premium subscribers see no ads at all.
5. Purchases
Subscriptions and token packs are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details. Apple tells the app only whether a purchase succeeded, and gives us an anonymous transaction identifier that we record so the same purchase is not credited twice.
6. Third-party websites
The app includes a browser for reading comics on the web. When you visit a website in it, that website receives your requests directly and applies its own privacy policy and cookies. We do not read, log, or transmit what you browse.
7. How long we keep your data
Account data stays on our servers for as long as your account exists. On-device data lives until you delete the app or clear it in the app's settings. Deleting the app does not by itself delete your account data from our servers — use Delete Account in the app, as described below.
8. Your choices and rights
- Use the app without an account. Sign-in is only needed to buy Premium or token packs and to carry tokens across devices.
- Sign out at any time from Settings. Tokens you bought remain attached to your account and return when you sign back in.
- Clear on-device data — translation cache, story memory, and saved corrections — from within the app.
- Delete your account from inside the app — Settings, then Delete Account. Your account, your Premium status and any tokens you bought are removed permanently, and the Apple sign-in token is revoked.
- Request access or correction of your account data by emailing us. We answer within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, including the right to object to processing and the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. We do not sell your personal information.
9. Children
Manhwa Translation is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. International transfers
Our service providers, Apple and Google, operate globally. Account data held in Firebase may be processed on servers outside your country, under the safeguards those providers apply.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, tell you in the app.
